Privacy

This policy explains what Overbid collects when you browse, vote, submit, log in, or pay for a slot. We do not sell personal data.

What we collect

  • Listings. Name, URL, tagline, description, logo URL, categories, pricing, launch year, and the submitter email.
  • Login. Email address and a session cookie after a magic link. We use this to claim listings and show the dashboard.
  • Claims. User id, email, tool, and whether the claim was auto-approved (matching domain or original submitter) or sent to review.
  • Votes and clicks. A one-way hash of your IP (with a server salt), the tool id, and a timestamp. We do not store the raw IP next to the vote. Hashes exist to enforce “one vote / limited clicks per tool,” not to identify you as a person.
  • Payments. Amount, currency, product type, tool, and the processor’s payment id. Card numbers and Mercado Pago / PayPal passwords stay with those companies.
  • Technical logs. Standard host logs (IP, user agent, path) on Vercel for security and debugging, retained according to the host’s defaults.

Cookies

We use an HTTP-only cookie for the admin session and for your logged-in user session. Those are required for login and dashboard, not for ads on third-party sites. We do not run a third-party ad network on Overbid pages.

Why we use the data

  • to publish and moderate the directory;
  • to compute rankings and prevent spam;
  • to let owners claim and edit a tool;
  • to activate Featured / Top 3 / Boost / Outbid after payment;
  • to email you about your listing or a failed payment.

Processors

Hosting and CDN: Vercel. Database: Supabase (when configured). Payments: PayPal (international) and Mercado Pago (Argentina). Email login: Supabase Auth (magic link) when that mode is on. Each has its own privacy policy.

Retention

Listings stay until you ask to remove them or we take them down under the terms. Vote and click hashes stay as long as we need them for ranking and anti-spam. Payment records stay as needed for accounting and disputes.

Your choices

  • You can request a listing takedown or a claim review.
  • You can log out; that clears the session cookie in the browser.
  • You can refuse to submit an email — then you cannot claim or buy a slot in your name.

Children

Overbid is not directed at children under 16. Do not submit personal data of minors.
